The annual Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival,the last classical music festival of winter,once again brings the greats together with up-and-coming names. The inaugural show on Friday began with a performance by young sitar player Purbayan Chatterjee,followed by vocalist Pandit Jasrajs evocative pieces. Todays attractions are a santoor recital by Rahul Sharma and a rendition of thumris,kajris and chaitis by Girija Devi. Its a rare pleasure to perform at this festival as the audience comprises people who appreciate music, says the latter about the festival that is considered among the
oldest in Delhi. Delhi-based Rajan and Sajan Mishra present their khayal-gayaki on Sunday. The fourth and final day will have with a performance by flautist Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia.
