Class VI student jumps off school building

A student of Class VI allegedly attempted suicide by jumping off the third floor of a school in Southwest Delhi’s Dwarka area,fearing that his parents would be called after he verbally abused a girl in his class.

A student of Class VI allegedly attempted suicide by jumping off the third floor of a school in Southwest Delhi’s Dwarka area,fearing that his parents would be called after he verbally abused a girl in his class. The boy is undergoing treatment at Ayushman Hospital in Dwarka for fractures in left arm and leg.

The incident was reported on Saturday from St Mary’s School in Sector-19,Dwarka. On Friday,the students had reportedly verbally abused a classmate during a free period. The girl later complained to a teacher about it.

“The teacher then informed the principal who asked the boy to bring his parents to school,” said a police officer.

Scared,the boy did not inform his parents,sources said.

“On Saturday,around 11 am the principal asked him as to whether he had informed his parents,” said the officer.

The student then reportedly complained of a stomach ache and took permission to use the washroom.

“The child jumped through the window of the washroom on the third floor,” an official of the school said.

“We received a call on Saturday from the school informing us of the incident. The child’s condition is stable and we are investigating the case,” said Sharad Aggarwal Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest). The child lives in Sadh Nagar,Palam Colony.
