Councillor ‘throws’ slipper at BJP MLA
An altercation between BJP MLA Harsh Vardhan and Congress councillor Ramesh Pandit at the inauguration of a park in East Delhi turned ugly on Thursday when the latter allegedly threw slippers at the former. Officials said Pandit was alleging that the work on the park in Geeta Colony was initiated by MP Sandeep Dikshit,while Vardhan was taking credit for it. The locality was included in Vardhan’s constituency after delimitation. The police have registered a simple hurt case in the matter and investigations are on.

HC quashes ‘frivolous plea’,imposes costs
Imposing a cost of Rs 30,000 on a man for filing a frivolous petition,the Delhi High Court on Thursday noted that such litigation that clogs the wheel of justice must be dismissed with heavy penalty. “Any litigant,who indulges in mindless litigation and unnecessarily wastes the precious time of the courts,should not be spared. He must pay heavy costs for wasting the time of the court,” Justice V B Gupta said,throwing out the petition of a man who challenged a trial court order after 13 years.
