Gurgaon: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday visited the residence of Manjeet Singh Ahlawat,IG of India Reserve Battalion,who died under mysterious circumstances two days ago. Ahlawat died after he fell from the fourth floor of a building in Sector-57 on Saturday night. Police are tightlipped about the incident and have not provided details.

Army guard commits suicide

New Delhi: A 25-year-old Army guard,posted at the Base Camp in Naraina,committed suicide on Sunday evening. According to police,Ravi Kumar was a quarter guard at 505,Base Camp. He shot himself in the neck with his own rifle. Police added his colleagues informed them around 8 pm about the incident. “The deceased was from Durg and the reason for the suicide are not yet known,” said A K Ojha,DCP (Southwest).

Bikers snatch jewellery from Vikaspuri woman

New Delhi: Two bike-borne assailants snatched a plastic bag containing jewellery reportedly worth Rs 5 lakh from a woman,who was travelling in a cycle-rickshaw along with her daughter-in-law. The incident was reported from West Delhi’s Vikaspuri area on Monday afternoon,police said. The women were on their way to the HDFC Bank to deposit the jewellery in their locker,police added. Victims have been identified as Manjeet Kaur (50) and her daughter-in-law Harmeet Kaur. “Manjeet had the plastic bag on her lap. The two accused rode upto them,snatched the bag and fled,” police said.

Ghaziabad Metro line to open for public on July 9

Ghaziabad: The Phase-I Metro line to Ghaziabad will open for the public on July 9. This was announced by the Ghaziabad Development Authority. The GDA has finished work on the Vaishali line and now awaits final inspection from the CMRS (Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety) at the end of this month. Speaking during a conference,the Authority’s Vice-Chairman Narendra Kumar Chowdhary said Chief Minister Mayawati has been requested to inaugurate the line. ”Mayawati has given her consent to come to inaugurate the Metro line into Ghaziabad. This will connect commuters to Delhi. We look forward to the expansion of the network”,he added.
