Sanitisation of CWG venues will have to wait till August
The deployment of at least 1,400 personnel from the Central paramilitary forces,who were to conduct anti-sabotage checks and seal all Commonwealth Games venues in April itself,has been put on hold till August 1. The central forces were to sanitise the venues at least six months in advance. P2
MCD contractor killed in East Delhi
An MCD contractor was stabbed to death by unidentified persons in Madangir area of East Delhi on Wednesday,the police said. The body of 22-year-old Javed was recovered from a park in the area. One of Javeds friends,who claimed to be an eyewitness to the incident,informed the police about the crime. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
Cant shift TV cables when World Cup is on
The Municipal Corporation of Delhis plan to shift overhead television cables underground will have to wait for the final whistle at the FIFA 2010 World Cup. While the civic agency has threatened to snap the cables of the operators who do not comply with its order by the end of June,operators claim this will lead to interruption of the FIFA telecast and hence must be extended further. We have issued notices to all cable operators and most of them have expressed willingness to remove the overhead cables,but the work will take time, said the Cable Operators Federation of India.
