CBSE Class XII Results: Topper a Delhi girl with 99.2%

Girls once again outperform boys with a pass percentage of 87.56 per cent.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday declared the results for Class XII examination, with 82 per cent students passing the exam and girls faring better than boys. Securing 496 out of 500 marks, M Gayatri of New Green Fields school, New Delhi, is the all India CBSE topper.

Gayatri, who scored a hundred in Mathematics, Business Studies and Accountancy, has secured an overall percentage of 99.2.

Mythili Mishra from Amity International School, Noida, Saurabh Bhambri of KRM World School, Greater Kailash II, and B Arjun of Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, were placed second.

They scored 495 out of 500 (99 per cent). Gayatri is from the Commerce stream, while both Mythili and Saurabh are from Humanities.

The third rank has also been shared by three students — Poonam Kumari from Mohindergarh (Haryana), Gurwinder Singh Saini from Jalandhar and N Nishok Kumar from Chennai, who obtained 494 out of 500 marks. Last year, Sarthak Aggarwal from Delhi scored 99.6 percentage — the highest ever in Class XII.

In all, 10,40,368 candidates had registered for the examination this year — an increase of about 1.2 per cent candidates over that of last year. The overall pass percentage was marginally lower than last year where 82.70 per cent students had passed as against 82 per cent this year.

At 95.41 percent, Thiruvananthapuram registered the highest pass percentage.

Girls once again outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 87.56 per cent, in comparison to 77.77 per cent scored by boys. With more than 120 students scoring above 90 per cent marks and 85 per cent clearing the exam, students with special needs also showcased exemplary results this year.

Photocopies of the evaluated answer sheets will be provided to the candidate(s) requesting for it and only to those candidates who have applied for verification of marks. Applications will be accepted by the Board from June 13-17, CBSE said in a statement.
