orial lecture The Department of English of Jamia Millia Islamia organised the third Ahmad Ali Memorial Lecture on October 30. Aruna Chakravarti delivered the lecture on Becoming a Translator: A Journey, and Alok Bhalla presided over the event. Ahmad Ali (1910-1994) was part of the Progressive Writers Movement in the 1930s. He was also a British Council visiting professor to China in 1947. After the Partition,he moved to Karachi and joined the Pakistan Foreign Services. As a translator,his most important work is Al-Quran: A Contemporary Translation. John Mullins at FMSJohn Mullins from the London Business School launched Getting to Plan B,a book he authored with Randy Komisar,at FMS South Campus on October 28. Mullins is the associate professor of management practice at LSE. FMS was the first stop in Mullins 20-day visit to India. His new book talks about the way one adapts to conditions which might not have been predicted,and argues that this adaptation decides the ability to succeed. IGNOU M Ed courseIndira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) announced the sale of prospectus of its Master of Education on October 30. The M Ed eligibility criteria for the academic session commencing January 2010,shall be as per National Council for Teachers Education norms. The last date for receiving the requisition for supply of the prospectus by post is November 10 and for submission of forms is November 15.
