Unless Delhi photographers heave their bulging camera bags and wander out of the city, their photo op is reduced to the indentations of the urban landscape. That is one reason why the annual photo trek organised by the group Photosensitive has become a much-awaited event in an amateur lenswomans calendar.
For Photo Trek 2009,a small group of photographers will veer off to the high altitudes of Bada Chandratal, beyond Rohtang Pass, for 10 days in June. We want to focus on landscape and macro-photography. At Bada Chandratal, one can catch the snow peaks glowing in the first rays of the sun and shoot the stars reflected in the changing colours of the tranquil lake, says Shailan Parker of Photosensitive, who, along with Joginder Singh, will train the group in getting the perfect frame. Parker and Singh teach photography at several design institutes in besides being well-known freelancers.
If you need to be part of the camera trek, you need to have a basic knowledge of photography and carry your own kit comprising cameras, tripod and close-up lens. Members also have to be medically fit, says Parker. The rates are Rs 19,800 per person and include transport and stay in tents.
