A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus conductor was shot dead by unknown persons near his house in Southwest Delhi on Wednesday night. Police believe the murder was committed over personal enmity.
The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Ajit Singh, who lived with his wife and two sons at Navin Place in Baba Haridas Nagar. While Singhs wife is a head constable with the CRPF,his elder son,Manoj,is a constable with the Delhi Police.
Police said the incident occurred around 10.45 pm,while Singh was returning home from work. He was metres away from his house when somebody shot him in the neck, a senior police officer said.
When his wife heard the gunshot, she rushed outside to find him lying in a pool of blood. Police took Singh to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
A case of murder has been registered at the Baba Hari Dass Nagar police station.
According to the officer, the murder seemed to have been committed over personal enmity. As Singhs valuables were intact, robbery has been ruled out as the motive. There was no sign of resistance. The murder was planned. It seems as if the assailants were keeping track of Singhs work timings, he said.
Police are trying to get further information from the victims family.
