Buoyed by ‘positive results’ in Qutabgarh, L-G adopts four more villages in capital
The officials said Saxena took the decision to this effect following “postive results” in the direction achieved at north west Delhi's Qutabgarh village

Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Vinai Kumar Saxena has adopted four more villages to be developed as model villages, complete with civic and health infrastructure among other amenities, L-G House officials have said.
The officials said Saxena took the decision to this effect following “postive results” in the direction achieved at north west Delhi’s Qutabgarh village. Nizampur and Jaunti in the Kanjhawala area in addition to Rawta and Deorala in Kapashera will now be included in the list of model villages adopted by the L-G, they added.
“These villages too will now be developed with ample civic infrastructure, (focus on) preservation of heritage, livelihood opportunities, scientific livestock management, health care, proper land use and water management among others,” said an L-G House official. Issues related to gender, agriculture and other matters will also be addressed on priority basis in these villages like it was done at Qutabgarh, the officials added.
According to the 2011 census, Nizampur and Jaunti have a population of about 6,000-7,000 and 8,000-9,000, respectively, while Rawta and Deoral are populated by around 2,933 and 524 residents respectively.
Initiatives for developing Qutabgarh as a model village were kicked off in September 2022 with the plantation of 1,000 saplings of sandalwood by 500 farmers. Saxena had visited Qutabgarh on April 13 this year and distributed 2,000 guava and 1,000 grape saplings to residents.
Initiatives currently under progress at Qutabgarh, L-G House officials said, include upgrading the MCD dispensary into a polyclinic, setting up a post office, introduction of the science stream in the local government school in addition to the development of two ponds and four new public parks among others.
