Budget an eyewash, utter disappointment, says BJP

How would you rate this year’s budget?

The budget is an utter disappointment. The government has reduced the plan outlay… the budget is meant to mislead people. This is an eyewash as the government has not been able to deliver on any of its promises.

According to you, in which areas has the government failed to deliver?

The education sector has not seen any development. They promised to set up new schools in the first year of their governance. Now they have constructed temporary structures and started second shifts in a few schools. Then they combine these numbers and claim these are ‘new schools’. If we have 500 schools in Delhi, and you start evening shifts in them, would you be able to say that you have built 500 additional schools in the city? This is misleading. Not even a single new school has been constructed.

There was no mention of any measure to clean up Yamuna in the budget. They have spent money and performed aarti on the ghat and yet there was no mention of it in the budget.

The project to rehabilitate slum-dwellers has been a non-starter. Not even a single slum-dweller has been given a flat or shifted to one… you have promised to shift 20 slums of the 675 in the city, but only Rs 100 crore has been allocated for it. They are fooling people.

What do you think about the government’s plan to set up WiFi and CCTVs?

There are no signs of either WiFi or CCTVs. There is no security for women in the city. The government has taken no steps to ensure their security.

AAP has attacked the BJP for allowing the ISI team to visit India for Pathankot probe.

The drama the Delhi Assembly witnessed today was a planned event. The assembly was supposed to have a motion of thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s address, but that did not happen. The flag and banners could not have been taken inside assembly without prior planning. This is highly
irresponsible.
