This collaboration is expected to play a key role in advancing the adoption of robotic-assisted surgery in India by offering high-quality training in a government institution, it said.Power discom BSES has donated 27 electric buses to AIIMS New Delhi under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, to be used to operate a free shuttle service within the campus for patients and staff members.
A fleet of 11 buses was flagged off on Wednesday in a ceremony held at the AIIMS by the institute’s director M Srinivas and BSES officials. The remaining e-buses will be flagged off by March 31, 2025, the hospital said in a statement.
“AIIMS New Delhi is incredibly grateful to BSES for their generous donation of 27 e-shuttles. This significant contribution will greatly enhance the mobility of our staff and patients within the AIIMS campus, promoting a greener and more efficient healthcare environment,” Srinivas said.
Of the 27, 20 buses will serve patients and their families, while seven are to be designated for doctors and other staffers, ensuring smooth and efficient movement within the hospital premises, which sees an average daily footfall of over 10,000 visitors.
AIIMS houses around 1,000 doctors and faculty, and 8,000 paramedical staff, the statement added.
