Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the wrestling training venue at the Ludlow Castle Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya near Kashmere Gate on Friday. The centre was constructed at a cost of Rs 13 crore. A centrally air-conditioned building,the venue includes a lounge,changing rooms,a sports equipment room,a medical and physiotherapy room,a gym,cafeteria,and a conference room on the ground floor.

3 held for robbery
Three Bangladesh nationals,including a woman,have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police for the East of Kailash robbery. Police said following a tip-off,one of the accused,Yasin,was arrested on Thursday from Badarpur. Simultaneously,a woman,Sulekha,was arrested from Madanpur Khadar besides Sikander who was apprehended from Okhla. The police said three expensive wristwatches,branded clothes worth Rs 50,000,mobiles and jewellery have been recovered. On January 23,robbers looted the house of a senior citizen and made off with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash besides jewellery.

Kalkaji house burgled
Unidentified men robbed the Southeast Delhi residence of a retired section officer of the Planning Commission on Thursday morning and decamped with valuables worth over Rs 12 lakh. Police officials said no one was home at the time of the incident. Houseowner Dhirender Kumar,78,told the police that the family went to a relative’s place on Thursday morning. “They returned around 6.45 pm and found the lock of the main door of their Kalkaji flat broken. The entire house had been ransacked,” a senior police official said. The police have registered a case.

Suicide at Prez House
A domestic help at the President’s House,identified as Bittu Lal,30,allegedly committed suicide on Friday. Around 6 pm another help alerted the police about the suicide. Officials found Lal hanging from the ceiling fan at his quarters in the South Avenue of the President’s House. Lal left behind a suicide note saying no one was responsible for his death. Police said Lal had recently returned to Delhi from his village in Uttar Pradesh.
A case has been registered in the Chanakyapuri police station.

No notice to clear encroachment: HC
The Delhi High Court has ruled that no prior notice by civic bodies is required to demolish unauthorised encroachments. “No notice is required when encroachment of roads,public lands and public ways is done,” Justice S N Dhingra said while directing the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to clear encroachment on a public road in West Delhi within the next 45 days.

Defence lawyer attack: four held
The brother-in-law of defence lawyer R K Naseem,Vinod Sharma,his son and two workers were arrested on Thursday for the alleged attack on Naseem. On Wednesday,the case was transferred to the Crime Branch following allegations of “mishandling” of the case by local police.

Girl falls to death
A 10-year-old girl died after falling from the second floor terrace of a neighbour’s house in Sultanpuri,Outer Delhi,on Friday evening. Police said the victim,Shalu,had gone to her neighbour’s house to play with her friend. During the course of a game,she fell off the terrace. She was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital,where doctors declared her dead on arrival,the police said.

Lottery racket busted
The Special Cell of Delhi Police claim to have busted an international online lottery and phishing racket with the arrest of three Nigerian nationals. Police said the gang cheated nearly 35 people and amassed Rs 1.5 crore. Police officials said they have recovered four laptops,six mobile phones,28 ATM cards and five data cards from their possession. The arrests came following a compliant wherein a man was cheated of Rs 7 lakh.
