A 17-year-old girl suffered burn injuries after her 28-year-old neighbour threw acid at her face at her Ashok Vihar III residence on Thursday afternoon. The police have launched a manhunt for Mahesh Singh,who they claimed attacked the girl in retaliation for being thrashed by her relatives for stalking her elder sister. “The victim,a student of Class XII,has been hospitalised with 50 per cent burns,” a senior police official said.

Protesters storm Manipur Bhavan
NEW DELHI: About 300 Naga protesters,mostly students,stormed the Manipur Bhavan on Friday evening protesting against the state’s decision not to allow NSCN-IM leader T Muivah a visit to his native village. “Within minutes,they started pelting stones and sticks,breaking many windows,” said a senior police officer,adding the protesters also overturned several cars parked outside. ACP Shankar Dash said a case has been registered at the Chanakyapuri police station.

Bomb scare on Shatabdi Express
Delhi-bound Shatabdi Express was delayed on Friday after the engine driver received a call that a bomb had been placed on the train. The train was stopped near Narela and was checked by the police,bomb disposal squad and dog squad. Around 10.30 am,the call was declared a hoax. Police said the caller has been identified and a case registered.

Power panel notice to discoms
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has asked all three discoms — BRPL,BYPL,and NDPL — to respond by May 14 as to why they violated a crucial order of the commission. The commission had issued a directive to the discoms nearly a month ago asking them to refrain from making any comments about the tariff order to the media. When the Delhi government intervened on behalf of the discoms and asked the commission to stall the order,the discoms called a press conference where they spoke on the tariff order.

Rs 2.5 lakh snatched in Kirti Nagar
Motorcycle-borne assailants snatched a bag containing Rs 2.5 lakh from two employees of Muthoot Finance Private Ltd in Kirti Nagar,West Delhi,on Friday morning. The police said the two were returning to their office after withdrawing money from a nearby bank. A case has been registered and a manhunt launched to nab the snatchers,the police said.

Court summons DCP (West)
A city court on Friday summoned the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police (West) for the police’s failure to trace a three-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by her father. The SHO of Nihal Vihar police station and the investigating officer in the case sought a week’s time from the court saying they would expedite the matter.
