Noida park: SC to hear case on Mar 18
The Supreme Court on Friday fixed March 18 for hearing the Uttar Pradesh governments plea to lift the stay on construction work at the memorial park in Noida. A Special Forest Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said it will give a full days hearing to decide the issue. The Uttar Pradesh government has claimed it is losing Rs 3 lakh every day for the upkeep of the memorial. The Ministry of Environment and Forest has filed an affidavit in favour of lifting the stay,senior advocate K K Venugopal appearing for the state government,said on Friday.
Notices for illegal hoardings
NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Friday issued notices to five leading companies for illegal display of hoardings on Metro properties on its land. The companies include Crompton Greaves Limited,Parsvanath Developers Ltd and Incense Group. They had put up a wall wrap at Azadpur Metro station and on a Metro pillar in Model Town. The companies have now been directed to remove the hoardings within two days and deposit Rs 48,000 within seven days.
Two held for human trafficking
NEW DELHI: A 44-year-old woman and her associate,allegedly running a human trafficking racket with the help of three Bangkok-based Pakistanis,were arrested in the Capital,police said on Friday. Two fake visa stickers of Canada,15 Indian passports and nine Nepali passports were recovered from the accused Chung Chung Doma Bhutia from Gangtok,and Naseemuddin (29). They charged Rs 6.5 lakh per person and got Rs 1 lakh as their share in the deal, Alok Kumar,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) said.
Anther held for Korean student kidnap
Gurgaon: The Gurgaon police on Friday arrested the second accused in the abduction case of a 17-year-old Korean student of Pathways School in Sohna. Police officials said Tahir was arrested from Sohna. We recovered a countrymade pistol and a 12 bore live cartridge from his possession. Upon interrogation,it was revealed he was one of the three accused in the abduction case, Inspector Inderjeet Singh said. The accused will be produced in the court on Saturday. A case was registered.
