A 26-year-old teacher was allegedly shot by two teenagers in the Greater Noida area while he was on his way to school on Wednesday. According to the police, a bullet grazed past the earlobe of the teacher and he was admitted to the hospital.

“A team of policemen immediately rushed to the spot. The injured person was identified as Rakib Hussain alias Rihan, a teacher. He was then taken to a private hospital. A bullet had passed near his right ear,” said Hirdesh Katheriya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Noida.

Katheriya said they found during their investigation that Rakib had left home to go to school around 8.30 am. The teenage attackers are believed to be 17 or 18 years old.

“As the victim was near the school area, they stopped his bike, talked over something and fired the bullet. He was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. Doctors said that he is out of danger now,” Katheriya said.

“A team has been formed to arrest the accused as soon. The CCTV footage of the area is also being scanned. The investigation is underway into the reason behind the attack and whether the incident could be due to an earlier dispute,” said the officer.

An FIR under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Surajpur police station.
