An absconding murder accused was arrested by the South Delhi police from Mahipalpur,where he was holed up,on Tuesday.
Yogendra Parsad Bhagat,a native of Bakhtiar Bazar in Bihar,had allegedly shot his cousin,Devendra,at Bakhtiarpur on February 21,1992. A case was registered against him under Section 302 of the IPC at the local police station.
Though Bhagat was arrested,he managed to abscond following which he was declared a proclaimed offender by a Bihar court.
The South Delhi police said that a team led by head constables Kanwar Singh and Munshi Lal arrested Yogendra Parsad from Mahipalpur after receiving information about his whereabouts from informers.
DCP (South District) HGS Dhaliwal said,The accused was also arrested by the Okhla police in 2009 for his involvement in a kidnapping case. The Bihar police have been informed about Bhagats arrest,and we are trying to identify other crimes that he may have committed.
