Sunburn Goa 2010 promises to crank up the fun with some international names
Singer Nadia Ali has just bagged a nomination for her Fantasy in the non-classical category of best remixed recording at the Grammy Awards this year. However, what the Pakistani-American artiste is most excited about right now is her maiden Indian gig at Sunburn Goa 2010 next week. The 30-year-olds excitement stems from the fact that the upcoming edition of Sunburn is being touted as the biggest musical extravaganza of India. Music producers Sultan and Ned Shepard raved so much about Sunburn that I had to take part in one of the coolest music festivals of the world. I am thrilled to perform in India, says Ali,a self-proclaimed fan of Indian music.
According to Sunburn regulars like Ritnika Nayan,CEO of Music Gets Me High,an event management company, the festival is attaining international status because of the line-up of artists. Its a massive event. Every year Sunburn springs surprises on you, says Nayan. Since its launch in 2007,Sunburn has roped in some of the biggest names in electronic music. The iconic DJ Armin Van Buuren, trance band Above and Beyond, trance DJ Richard Durand and Indian bands Jalebee Cartel and Midival Punditz have enthralled the audience during the previous editions of the festival.
After announcing the initial line-up of Swedish DJ Axwell and Ali,Sunburn introduced a surprise element last week DJ Paul Van Dyk. Known for hit singles such as For an Angel and Let go,Dyk has a huge international fan following. I have visited India before and it has always been a fantastic experience. I had heard a lot about the Sunburn festival in Goa and it feels great to be performing for an amazing crowd of music lovers, says the German musician.
Thousands throng the beaches of Goa every year during the festival. Each year expectations rise and so does the musical tempo. Our experience in India always exceeds our expectations. With the sudden boom in the EDM (electronic dance music) scene in India,we expect an army of fans to come and be part of this festival, concludes a member of the Dutch psy-trance band Growling Mad Scientists (GMS),which has performed in India several times before.
