Balvinder Kumar is new DDA chief

Kumar will take over from D Diptivilasa, another 1981-batch IAS of Uttar Pradesh cadre, who is an additional secretary in the Union Urban Development Ministry.

Balvinder Kumar took over as Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) Vice-Chairman on Thursday. Kumar, a 1981-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, was the chairman of Noida Authority before being appointed the DDA chief. Kumar will take over from D Diptivilasa, another 1981-batch IAS of Uttar Pradesh cadre, who is an additional secretary in the Union Urban Development Ministry and was holding additional charge as DDA Vice-Chairman.

Judicial custody for rape accused
A city court on Thursday remanded five persons, who were arrested in connection with the gangrape of a 51-year-old Danish tourist, in judicial custody for 14 days. While producing the accused before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sudhanshu Kaushik, police said they tried to contact the victim, who has left the country. Police said they were in touch with the Danish Embassy to either bring the woman to India or conduct test identification parade of the accused through video-conferencing.
