Back with a Bang

Chitrangada Singh seems intent on making a total comeback to showbiz. Apart from acting in a string of interesting projects,the actress will also be judging a reality show on Imagine TV. Singh confirmed that she will start shooting for the 13-episode programme by the end of this month. “The best thing about television is the fantastic exposure it gives an actor,which is a good thing to happen between films,” she says. Television apart,Singh will start shooting for Rohit Dhawan’s directorial debut Desi Boyz with Akshay Kumar and John Abraham in October. She is also looking forward to Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi (previously called Dil Dar-Ba-Dar),in which she plays an ambitious musician. The movie’s release has been postponed as Irrfan Khan,who plays one of the principal characters,has two releases in October. Yeh Saali Zindagi is tentatively slated for a November release.

There have been reports that her mentor Sudhir Mishra is in a fix because Ekta Kapoor,the producer of his next film Driver,wants Prachi Desai for the main lead instead of Singh. Reacting to the reports,Singh says. “All I know is that Sudhir has narrated the script to me and I really like the multi-dimensional character of the leading lady. I want to do the film though I have not signed it as yet.”

She informs that Abhay Deol’s Basra,where she has a cameo,has been delayed as it went over-budget. “It will now take off after Abhay completes Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,” she says. Also,Excel Entertainment’s Dhruv with Farhan Akhtar and Kareena Kapoor and Mishra’s period film Nawab The Nautch Girl And The John Company are taking their time to take off. “Dhruv has spilled into next year because Farhan is busy with Don 2,and Sudhir is working out the dates for the shooting of Nawab…,” she reveals.
