The Ramlila Maidan, where Baba Ramdev will be holding his Yoga Shivir, has turned into a full-fledged hospital with hundreds of doctors and facilities to deal with any medical emergency.

Ramdev’s personal physician has travelled all the way from Haridwar to keep an eye on Baba round-the-clock.

The team, which comprises surgeons, cardiologists and even gynaecologists, are members of the ‘Bharat Swabhiman Trust’,an organisation started by Ramdev. “We have experts and specialists on the panel. There are cardiologists, surgeons and others to handle specific cases. We also have three women gynaecologists,” said Dr Gyan, team manager.

A separate disaster management unit is also manning the venue; ambulances have been kept on standby for critical cases.

“We have made arrangements to tackle all medical emergencies. There are seven medical chambers. Heat strokes, seasonal diseases and diarrhoea will be attended to immediately,” said Dr D C Bhardwaj,a private practitioner and a retired Air Force officer.

“We have set up an air-conditioned disaster unit, which is like an ICU. If there is any serious illness, then it will be attended to immediately. There are eight hospital beds, glucose drips and all the equipment required. Our volunteers will make rounds of the ground to monitor the participants’ health,” he added.

The team of doctors has also collaborated with various hospitals. “In case of critical cases the patients will be shifted to the Lok Nayak and GB Pant hospitals,” said Dr Bhardwaj.

There are also provisions for homeopathy and ayurvedic treatments.
