Despite the aura surrounding art,it is a niche group that actually understands its vivid vocabulary. “Towards a New Viewership/Audience”,an ongoing exhibition of 36 artists at Art Konsult gallery in Hauz Khas aims to bridge the gap between fine art and the masses. “It is an attempt to expand the audience of art. The exhibition was earlier held in Bhubaneswar as part of the Bakul Art Fest in

January and it received an overwhelming response with more than 150 people cutting across class and demography attending the show,” says Siddharth Tagore, owner of the gallery.

The show achieves a right balance that would attract the novice viewer as well as give the seasoned one food for thought. A canvas by Prithwiraj Mali shows a severed hand, submerged in red and nailed to the wall, while on the opposite wall,a mixed media on paper has a disjointed head with headphones on,a comment Generation X.

Curated by Rajashree Biswal, the show includes artists like Ravi Agrawal,Manjunath Kamath and Pratul Dash.

The exhibition is on till September 13
