Minimum wages for workers raised
New Delhi:The Delhi government on Tuesday marginally raised minimum wages for various categories of skilled and unskilled workers in the city. The new rates will be applicable from April 1 to all 29 scheduled employment categories notified by the government. The hikes are in the range of five to six per cent,officials said. Labour and Industries Minister Ramakant Goswami said the monthly minimum wages of unskilled labourers have been increased from Rs 6,656 to Rs 7,020 while the monthly wage has been raised from Rs 7,358 to Rs 7,748 for semi-skilled labourers. For skilled labourers,the minimum salary has been increased to Rs 8,528 from Rs 8,112.
Woman found hanging near Aerocity Metro stn
New Delhi:A 30-year-old woman,hailing from Nepal,allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a tree near the Aerocity Metro station on Tuesday morning. The woman,identified as Sangeeta,was residing with her husband and their ten-year-old daughter in Mahipalpur. A police officer said,The woman was a tuberculosis patient and was depressed for a long time. This must have led her to take the extreme step.
20-year-old held for murdering friend
New Delhi:A 20-year-old man was arrested on charges of murdering his friend,who allegedly forced him to have a homosexual relationship with him,police said. Wasim,a resident of Hauz Qazi,was arrested for the murder of his friend Danish. Police said they became suspicious about Wasims involvement after he went missing soon after Danish was found dead inside a shop. Wasim was arrested from Chawri Bazar Metro station and he confessed to the crime,police said.
Woman alleges rape by constable
New Delhi:A 35-year-old woman,hailing from Haridwar,alleged that a Delhi Police constable raped her after she approached him for help in Southeast Delhis New Friends Colony area. The woman claimed that she had been mugged and approached the constable for help. However,a rape case was not registered in the matter as the woman refused to get a medical examination,police said. We requested her to undergo a medical examination to help corroborate her allegation but she refused. A case of theft was registered in the matter, a police officer said.
Headless body case: FIR of murder registered
Gurgaon:The GRP on Tuesday lodged an FIR in the alleged murder case of a youth whose headless body was found near the railway tracks in Sector 9A on Sunday. The locals of Nathupur village had found the head of the victim in Sector 9A near the GRP police station on Monday. A case has been lodged under Sections 302 and 120B of the IPC. The body of Sandeep Lohia (20) was found on Sunday morning along with a suicide note.
