Metro Phase III work of picks up pace
New Delhi: Speeding up its work,Delhi Metro plans to award all 21 civil contracts of the Phase-III project within the next three to four months to ensure that the corridors are completed on schedule by 2016. The Phase-III could see the debut of aluminum coaches,which are commonly used in Metro networks abroad,with the Delhi Metro deciding to give the option for such cars as and when the tenders for rolling stock are floated. Out of the 21 contracts,three have been awarded to various agencies,four are being floated and others would be out in the next three to four months,Delhi Metros Managing Director E Sreedharan said.
Man commits suicide in Gurgaon hotel room
Gurgaon: A man was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room of a hotel on the Old Delhi Road late on Saturday night,police said. Deepak (26) was married and had a child. However,he had checked into the hotel with a woman he was in love with,said Abhay Rao,DCP (West). The woman got to know about his marital status and wanted him to divorce his wife. They decided to meet for the last time in the hotel. When the woman went to the washroom,Deepak hanged himself from the ceiling fan with her dupatta,the officer said.
Three arrested in abduction case
NOIDA: Three persons were arrested on Sunday for allegedly abducting a traders son from Dadri area,police said. Naresh (24),the son of Surinder Goyal,was abducted on Friday allegedly by Vikas Kumar,the brother of one of Goyals employees,a senior police officer said. Vikas and two other accused persons,identified as Brij Bhan and Chandar Bhan,who had helped him in the abduction of the traders son,have been arrested.The location of the abductors was traced to Aligarh through electronic surveillance when they called the family and demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh. After his arrest,Vikas told police officers that he needed Rs 5 lakh to settle an old case.
