Duo arrested for extortion
NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old driver was arrested along with his cousin for attempting to extort Rs 50 lakh from his employer a small time singer. Police said the accused wished to buy a big house and thought extortion was the way to achieve the dream. Ram Swaroop,the driver and his cousin Vijender were apprehended by a team from the Amar Colony police station on Monday.
Stepfather booked for molesting minor girl
NEW DELHI: A 12-year-old girl from South Delhis Vasant Kunj area has lodged a case against her stepfather,accusing him of outraging her modesty. According to police the victim,who is the eldest in a family of four sisters and a brother,said her father forced her into having physical relations with him and misbehaved when she did not agree. In her statement she said the recent incident took place on April 27 when he tried to force himself upon her while she was sleeping.
Amend furlough guidelines: HC to govt
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered the Delhi Government to amend its Parole/Furlough: Guidelines,2010 after striking down one of its provisions which prohibited those convicted of the offences of robbery,dacoity,arson,kidnapping,abduction,rape and extortion from being released on furlough. The court termed the impugned provision as unconstitutional on the ground that while those convicted under such charges could be released on parole,furlough was denied to them as per the guidelines.
Court allows inspection of bombed car
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Tuesday allowed the inspection of the car of the Israeli diplomat which was bombed here on February 13,by an insurance surveyor to assess its damages for reimbursement. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate allowed the plea of Alon Yehoshua,the husband of Israeli diplomat Tal Yehoshua,for a surveyor to inspect the car and assess damages.
