NEW DELHI: A head constable was robbed on Sunday while he was on night duty in Paharganj. The constable,Karamveer (57),has alleged that he was returning from a tea stall near Chuna Mandi when some persons hit him with a blunt object,and he fell unconscious. They then allegedly fled with his wallet.

Fake IPL tickets racket busted,2 arrested

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested two persons allegedly involved in black-marketing of IPL tickets. They also recovered 50 tickets from them. The gang was allegedly selling tickets illegally on Monday for the match between Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings. The arrested have been identified as Vinay Kumar Jha (31) and Mohd Khalid (25) said Ashok Chand,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime).

Three held for supplying liquor to Gujarat

NEW DELHI: A technician employed with the Railways has been arrested with two associates,for alleged bootlegging and smuggling of liquor to Gujarat. Dhruv Kumar (40) was arrested from a CFL manufacturing unit run by Mukesh Kumar (25). Another gang member,Hukam Dev,was also arrested. Police recovered 120 bottles of liquor from the unit.

One arrested for stealing paintings

NEW DELHI: Police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing paintings from outside the Tamil Nadu emporium in Connaught Place. The theft was reported on Monday by Loka Nathan,an artist from Chennai,who had brought five of his works to keep at the emporium..

Rs 2 lakh relief for displaced Kashmiri

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday awarded ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh to a Kashmir resident,whose house was burnt down in November 2005. While petitioner O N Bhat claimed that his house was burnt down by terrorists,the counsel for the Central government attributed it to a fire caused by a short circuit. The court noted both Bhat and the respondent failed to prove the the cause of fire.
