NEW DELHI:Police have arrested two men for allegedly thrashing three youths from the Northeast in Munirka on Monday. Roney (25) was standing in his balcony when a fly entered his mouth,forcing him to spit. A representative of North East Helpline Forum,Timothy,said: “When Roney spat,his neighbours started abusing him. Before Roney could say anything,the accused Adarsh Kumar and his son Ashish Tokas assaulted him with wooden sticks.” The man and his son were arrested. Timothy said others joined the two and assaulted Roney’s friends Saizgong (22) and Samson (25).

Traffic snarls reported in Central Delhi

NEW DELHI:Major traffic snarls were reported from several arterial roads in New Delhi district after police barricaded streets reaching Parliament House on Tuesday morning. Rafi Marg,Rajendra Prasad Road,Talkatora,Rakabganj Road and Dalhousie Road,leading to Parliament were barricaded. The action was taken a day after Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde asked the police to file a report over police failure to prevent Sikh protestors from marching to Vijay Chowk,which is a high-security zone.

Eight held for selling phones with porn

NEW DELHI:Eight shopkeepers were arrested in Kapashera,Southwest Delhi for allegedly selling mobile phones that had porn videos in the memory cards to lure more customers,police said on Tuesday. The arrests were made after police learnt about the circulation of porn films on mobile phones.

Cops ask villagers to help track criminals in Gurgaon

GURGAON:Gurgaon Police spoke with the heads of various villages in Gurgaon on Tuesday. The Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal sought the cooperation of village heads (sarpanches) in reducing the crime rate in the district. He asked them to be more vigilant and report suspicious persons in their areas to the police. “Gurgaon has a mixed population,so it is difficult for the available police force to keep a tab on every person who has a criminal inclination,” Mittal said .
