Man gets life term for raping daughter Delhi court on Saturday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his minor daughter and fathering her child. The order,calling the act inhuman and ghastly,also directed that the sentence should not be remitted till the convict serves 20 years as his offence was rarest of the rare. An FIR against the convict,Sant Ram,was lodged on April 25,2006 by his wife at the Kanjhawala police station alleging that he had raped their daughter. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on the convict. Another fire at Mundka marketAnother fire was reported from West Delhis Mundka market on Saturday morning. This is the third fire incident in the last one month at the Phirni Market,the plastic scrap market in Mundka. According to the police,the call about the fire was received at 11 am around 25 fire tenders were sent to the spot. No one was injured in the incident,which the police suspect is a case of sabotage. Court rejects IM suspects plea A city court on Saturday refused to pass any direction on an appeal made by a suspected Indian Mujahideen militant that his life was in danger inside the prison. The court decision came after Tihar Jail authorities assured the suspect,Salman,of full protection. The court also examined the AIIMS doctors who were part of panel to ascertain Salmans age. Couple cuts wrists in front of police ghaziabad: A young couple,who had eloped from Madhya Pradesh a few weeks ago and settled in Ghaziabad after getting married at an Arya Samaj Mandir,cut their wrists while they were at the Shastri Nagar police station in Ghaziabad on Saturday. The police had detained Bunty,21,and Shilpa,19,after neighbours,suspicious at the sudden presence of the couple in the area,filed a complaint. Their parents have been informed and an inquiry has been ordered to find out how the incident took place and why the police officers were unable to prevent it, a senior officer said. The couple has been admitted to Sarvodya Hospital and are recovering.
