CP encounter: Victim’s widow seeks Rs 2 cr
The wife of Pradeep Goyal,who was killed in a fake encounter by the Delhi Police on March 31,1997 at Connaught Place,has approached the Delhi High Court on Friday seeking a compensation of Rs 2 crore from the police. Neema Goyal pleaded before the court that the police should be directed to pay the compensation as her husband lost his life because of their illegal acts.

Truck hits school bus,12 injured
Noida: Twelve students of Panchsheel Balak Inter College were injured after the school bus they were travelling on was hit by a truck near Sector 93 on Noida Expressway,Friday. Police said the bus,carrying 30 children,was on way to the school when a speeding truck rammed into it. The truck driver fled from the spot after the accident,the police added.

Belt pieces removed from man’s chest
Doctors at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital removed four pieces of a leather belt from the chest cavity of a 22-year-old man. For four years,Anuj Ranjan was being treated for tuberculosis as pieces appeared as patches on the lungs in X-Ray examinations. The patient’s father said Ranjan met with an accident in 2006,and while the wounds were being stitched,the pieces were lodged inside. “They were discovered during the surgery,” Ranjan’s father said.

Provide protection to girl: Court to cops
The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the Delhi Police to provide protection to a girl who alleged her parents wanted to marry her against her wishes. The court said the girl,a major,has the right to marry a person of her choice. The petition was filed by Priyanka Mukherjee,a resident of Rohini.

Nazafgarh family robbed of Rs 13 lakh
Unidentified assailants barged into the house of a businessman,took the occupants hostage,and made away with cash and jewellery worth Rs 13 lakh in Nazafgarh,Southwest Delhi,on Friday morning. Prem Chand Bindal,along with his wife and daughter was at the house at the time of incident,the police said.
