Rashtrapati Bhavan gets crank call
Investigations are on to trace the person who made a prank call to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 28 claiming he was calling from the office of Congress president Sonia Gandhi at 10,Janpath and wanted to talk to President Pratibha Patil. When he was refused by the Bhavan’s staff,he made a second call around 9 pm the same day and again expressed his desire to talk to the President. When the exchange’s staff told him that the call could not be put through and he should leave his number,the caller used abusive language and threatened to take up the matter at the highest level,sources said.

A complaint was made by the President’s office to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rashtrapati Bhavan) who forwarded it to the Special cell of Delhi Police. Gandhi’s office has denied that such a call was made. The police have screened the MTNL call records but no breakthrough has been made so far.

Bypass surgery for Delhi Metro chief
Delhi Metro Managing Director E Sreedharan underwent a bypass surgery at the Apollo Hospital on Thursday. Sreedharan,77,was admitted to the hospital’s Coronary Intensive Care unit after he complained of severe chest pain at the Delhi Airport on Wednesday. He was scheduled to take a flight to Kolkata.

He is being treated by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors,led by senior cardiologist Dr S K Gupta. His condition is stable,a statement from the hospital said.
