Two arrested for kidnapping,murdering man
Police arrested two persons on Monday for kidnapping and killing a 56-year-old man. Police also recovered two rings and Rs 16,000 from their possession. Police said while Deepak (25),was arrested from Tilak Nagar in West Delhi,Sonu (22) was nabbed from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. The accused had allegedly kidnapped the victim,Vinod Kumar Gupta,from Noida on Friday.
Two persons robbed of Rs 40 lakh,car
Two residents of Laxmi Nagar,East Delhi,were robbed of Rs 40 lakh and a Wagon R car in Shakarpur by a gang of unidentified persons. Police later recovered most of the looted cash and the car from Geeta Colony. The victims were identified as Rajesh Kumar Goyal (28) and his younger brother,Ravi (26).
Siemens bags Rs 167-crore IGI order
German major Siemens on Monday said it has bagged a Rs 167-crore order from the Delhi Cargo Service Centre to provide material-handling solutions for a new cargo complex at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Siemens has implemented 300 airport logistics systems worldwide, said Tilakraj Seth,vice president and head,Mobility Solutions,Siemens.
Use of calcium carbide on fruits banned
The government banned the use of calcium carbide for ripening fruits after a meeting to discuss alternative techniques for ripening fruits. Health Minister Dr AK Walia said calcium carbide has been banned in Delhi under the PFA Act,and ethylene could be used as an alternative. The fruits ripened with ethylene have more shelf-life than those ripened with calcium carbide.
