Jats to hold rally on November 25
Chandigarh: The Jats of Haryana,Punjab and Uttar Pradesh have decided to revive their agitation for demanding reservation under OBC quota. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday,Yashpal Malik,national president of Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti,said: We had given time to the Centre and the state governments of Haryana and Punjab till October 31 to sort out the issue by having talks with us. But the governments just dont seem interested in talks. We are now ready for a direct confrontation with the government on the reservation issue. We have planned a massive rally at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on November 25.
Court seeks response on use of pesticides
New Delhi: Expressing concern over the use of banned pesticides for fruits and vegetables,the Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought a response from the Centre and the state government within a month. The court took suo motu cognizance of media reports and asked the governments to hold a joint meeting and file affidavits by December 1. The court also directed the government to issue a notice to NGO Consumer Voice,which has conducted the study,to assist the Bench. The study has revealed that the amount of pesticides used in eatables in India is 750 times the European standards.
