A man was arrested for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 60 lakh from the family of his girlfriend. The accused,in a bid to become rich,attempted the plan through his girlfriend who belongs to a business family. On September 24,the girl’s father Malkiyat Singh,a resident of Moti Nagar,informed the police that his 17-year-old daughter had gone missing. DCP West,Sharad Aggarwal said,“Singh received an SMS that his daughter has been kidnapped and Rs 60 lakh be paid as ransom for her release.” The police zeroed in on Prabhjod Singh who lived in the complainant’s neighbourhood and was missing for some time. Later,the accused,who was with the girl,was arrested.

Two killed in bus accidents
Two persons were killed in separate Blueline bus accidents on Friday night. In the first accident,35-year-old Anupam Kumar Singh was killed while his friend suffered injuries when a speeding Blueline bus hit their bike at 8.30 pm near the Moti Bagh flyover. The second incident occurred in Sultanpuri where a 47-year-old man was killed by a Blueline running on the Central Secretariat-Sultanpuri route at 10.45 pm. The victim was waiting to board a bus on when the bus mowed him down.
