Rs 21 lakh robbed in Adarsh Nagar
Six unidentified assailants held employees of Ambika Traders,situated on Rajan Babu Road in Adarsh Nagar,hostage and made away with Rs 21 lakh on Wednesday afternoon. The police suspect the involvement of an insider in the incident and are questioning the workers.
Ashok Arora is new Faridabad MC mayor
Chandigarh: Ashok Arora has been elected as the Mayor of the Faridabad Municipal Corporation. Mukesh Sharma and Rajender Bhamla were elected as Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor,respectively. The new office-bearers met Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday.
Security beefed up in Noida,Ghaziabad
NOIDA/Ghaziabad: Security across Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad has been stepped up after inputs by intelligence agencies regarding presence of suspected Islamic terrorist in the districts. Senior intelligence officials believe nearly 12 militants entered Moradabad and Garh Mukteshwar in April but went off the radar soon after. The militants can pose a serious threat to the Commonwealth Games and the security of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati,a communication sent to senior police officers and agencies like the Anti-Terror Squad states.
Overburdened MCD teachers to protest
Teachers from MCD schools,who were carrying out census,have now been asked by the government to verify voters ID cards. Miffed,the teachers have decided to protest. The municipal education committee chairperson Mahender Nagpal said he will write to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit regarding the matter. The association members also met the Lieutenant-Governor on Wednesday to discuss this issue.
Cheetals killed in Asola,hunt on for feral dogs
Forest Department officials have captured a dog which belonged to a group of feral dogs which killed and fed on three cheetals in Asola wildlife sanctuary,near Saket. A post mortem report of the deer confirmed they died of grievous injuries. A group with representatives from animal shelter Friendicoes,Wildlife SOS and the Forest Department went to Asola today to identify the dogs. When we went there,the dogs were sleeping next to the carcasses and had fed on them. We removed a dog,which will now be sterilised. We will later decide what to do with it. The other dogs also need to be captured, said a member of the group.
