A city court on Tuesday adjourned the framing of charges against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a case of the alleged killing of five people during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots till Wednesday because of a typing error.

A city court on Tuesday adjourned the framing of charges against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a case of the alleged killing of five people during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots till Wednesday because of a typing error. Additional Sessions Judge Sunita Gupta adjourned the case after the CBI moved an application specifying that one of the charges,wrongful restraint under Section 339,has been mentioned instead of a charge of house trespass (Section 449).

Family dispute: Woman flees with cash,jewellery
A 30-year-old woman allegedly escaped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh from her Tilak Nagar residence on May 16. The police received a phone call from one Meetu on May 14 about the missing valuables,but on investigation stumbled upon a family dispute due to which her involvement in the robbery could not be ruled out. Sensing that she might get caught,Meetu escaped from the house with her seven-year-old daughter Dipti and is still on the run. A case of cheating has been registered under Section 406 at the Tilak Nagar station.

Woman found dead outside Metro station
A middle-aged woman was found dead outside the Ramakrishna Ashram Marg Metro station in Central Delhi on Tuesday. The police suspect that she may have died due to the heat as the body bore no injuries. The identity of the woman has not been ascertained yet.

Court slams DDA for delay in building shelters
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday pulled up the DDA for delaying the construction of shelters for mentally ill people who are found abandoned. The DDA had told the court that it has zeroed in on seven sites for opening the shelters while 18 were proposed. Unimpressed,the court summoned DDA commissioner (Land and Management) and secretary (Land and Development Authority) on May 26 to explain the delay.

Allot space for building charity trust: HC to govt
Taking a serious view of non-allotment of space to a charitable trust set up to give subsidised medicine to poor patients at the AIIMS,the Delhi High Court has directed the Centre to find a place for it. The court pulled up the Ministry of Health over its laxity and directed it to provide space to Surekha Public Charity Trust. The court sought a compliance report by September 10.

For abducting trader,man gets life term
The Delhi High Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for abducting a businessman at the behest of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and demanding a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore. It also expressed anguish that a government accommodation was used for the crime,which in fact was a “reflection of official corruption”. Convict K K Saini was operating from a government flat allotted to a Supreme Court official.

Metro holds street-plays to raise awareness
To create awareness among commuters,the Delhi Metro is holding street-plays on the recently inaugurated Inderlok-Mundka Metro corridor. The performances began on Tuesday and will go on till Saturday at various locations on the corridor. The plays are expected to create awareness about various aspects related to the Metro system. Officials said three specialised agencies — Drishtantar,Avante Garde Academy and Platform for Action in Creative Theatre — will perform as many as 60 shows mostly during office rush hours.
