Sergeant kills self
Satbir Singh,37,a sergeant with the Air Force,allegedly committed suicide around 9 pm on Monday by shooting himself with his service revolver. He was found in his office at the Najafgarh Air Force camp,where he was deputed,an officer said. The police have not found any suicide note.

Bata fined
After a city court fined Reebok Rs 1 lakh for using plastic bags in two of its showrooms,Metropolitan Magistrate Shailender Malik on Monday penalised footwear giant Bata a similar amount for the same reason. The court also directed that the money should be used to distribute biodegradable bags to small shopkeepers. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee had last September filed a case against Bata Shoe Stores in Kashmere Gate and its manager,Mahmud Hasan,alleging they were storing and selling shoes and footwear in plastic bags.
