Senior citizen death: victim knew killer,say cops
The senior citizen,found stabbed several times at his Civil Lines residence,was murdered by someone very close to him,the police said. A police officer said Dharampal Jindal (72) was stabbed thrice first at the back of his skull,then on his left cheek and finally on his neck,before he died. Jindal was murdered with a 12-inch knife,police said. Police said entry to the house was friendly. There is a property dispute of some kind. His terms with some of his relatives were not cordial. The attacker had a heated argument with the deceased,after which the murder took place, a senior police officer said. The deceased used to stay alone after his wife passed away in 2008. He had a strained relationship with his son,Omprakash Jindal,who stays in Anand Vihar. The body was found on Wednesday morning.
2010 Games: Govt school students to take part
Students of three schools under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and one Navyug school have been selected for the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games-2010. Parimal Rai,chairperson of NDMC,announced it on the occasion of an inter-school award ceremony. The students will be part of a cultural performance at the ceremony. Rai also announced that the students of N P Bengali Girls Senior Secondary School,Gole Market,participated in Republic Day celebrations this year and won the Chief Minister Trophy for their performance.
A 25-year-old man was allegedly murdered at Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi on Wednesday night. The deceased,identified as Ajay,had gone to a friends wedding when a group of five to six people entered his house,the police said. The intruders reportedly asked about Ajays whereabouts and also beat up his family. A witness went and informed Ajay about it. The victm then came back home around 11 pm and had a tussle with the group. One of the intruders allegedly stabbed him in the stomach. He was rushed to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital,and later shifted to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Class XII student found dead
An 18-year-old girl student was found hanging from the fan of her room at her residence in Matiala area in West Delhi on Thursday. The deceased Ekta was a student of Class XII at the Government Girls School,Matiala. The police said Ektas younger brother returned from school at 2.30 pm and found her body. She was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. No suicide note was found. Ekta was reportedly upset about scoring badly in the practical exams. Her father is an employee of Tata Indicom while her mother works as a nurse.
