Man run over by Blueline bus
A 23-year-old man died after being hit by a Blueline bus in More Bandh extension area of West Delhi on Saturday night. Police said the victim,identified as Siddarth,was going to buy medicine on his motorcycle when the Blueline bus plying on route number 405 (Badarpur-Old Delhi railway station) hit him. The police said that the driver escaped from the spot after the accident and is at large. The bus has been seized and a search is on for the driver. A case has been registered.
Cash,jewellery stolen in South Delhi
Robbers struck at the house of a boutique owner in South Delhi and decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh,police said on Sunday. The incident took place in South Extension and it came to light on Saturday morning. Nitin Jain,the house owner,and his family were not at home since Friday. A neighbour informed Jain about the incident on Saturday morning,after which he returned and informed the police. Jain runs the boutique from his residence. According to Jain,cash and jewellery amounting to Rs 8 lakh are missing.
Low water supply in city on Tuesday
Several areas in North and West Delhi would not receive water supply on Tuesday on account of repair and maintenance of some major pipelines. Delhi Jal Board said water supply will be affected in Narela,Bakhtawarpur,Jhingola,Tigipur,Mohammadpur,Ramjanpur,Singhu,Palla,Tajpur,Akbarpur Mazra,Alipur,Jindpur,Bakoli,Khampur,Budhpur,Hamidpur Village,Holambi and Kalan. Water supply will also be affected in Holambi Khurd Ghoga,Sannoth,Khera Kalan,Khera Khurd,Naya Bans,Barwala,Prahladpur,Mamurpur,Nangli Poona village,Badli and Bawana,the Jal Board said.
Student gangrape: verdict today
Delhi High Court is likely to decide on Monday the appeals filed by two men held guilty in the sensational Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) student gangrape case. The verdict will come five years after the convicts Rahul and his accomplice Amit were sentenced to life terms by a trial court in January for raping a medical student. The victim,a fourth-year student of the college,was allegedly raped by the duo at knifepoint on the terrace of Khooni Darwaza in Central Delhi on November 15,2002.
