Metro Express Line to be mapped
Delhi Metros Airport Express Line,which will take passengers from Connaught Place to the IGI Airport in 18 minutes,will be mapped on Geographic Information System (GIS) to enhance safety,maintenance and traffic regulation. The 22.7-km Metro corridor is expected to become operational by September 2010. The mapping of the line on GIS will help in mobilising emergency services in case of a blast or fire on the train. Reliance Infrastructure-led Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt Ltd,a Special Purpose Vehicle created to implement the Airport Express line,will map all emergency services,a company spokesperson said.
Bikers fire at guard,one held
Three men on a motorbike on Sunday fired at a private security guard after he caught them stealing gadgets from a car parked outside a marriage hall in Keshavpuram,Northwest Delhi,on Saturday night. The guard,Rakesh Diwedi,25,managed to catch hold one of them even after he was shot in his thumb and handed him over to the police. Police said the incident occurred at Lawrence Road where a marriage party was going on inside 73 Banquet Hall.
Hawala kingpin arrested
The Narcotics Control Bureau on Sunday arrested hawala kingpin Naresh Kumar Jain for alleged laundering of drug money and financing narcotic syndicates,official sources said. Jain,who was under the NCB scanner for quite sometime was picked up today from his Paschim Vihar residence and was later produced in the court which remanded him to three-day police custody.
