Two die in separate accidents involving Bluelines
Two people died in separate accidents involving Blueline buses in the last 24 hours. In the first incident,the bus conductor,Rajni Kant,died and seven persons were injured after a Blueline bus (plying on route number 918) rammed another bus,which was parked on the road in Punjabi Bagh,West Delhi around 9.15 am on Wednesday,the police said. In the second incident,39-year-old Kamlesh who was standing on the footboard of a Blueline bus (plying on route number 522) died after he fell down when the bus suddenly took a sharp turn in Connaught Place area around 11 pm on Tuesday. Mahesh,the driver of the bus is absconding. Separate cases have been registered in the two incidents.

Eight criminals held in Noida
Noida: Ghaziabad and Noida police,in a joint operation,arrested eight criminals involved in various cases of murder and robbery in both the districts. Seven criminals were arrested in Hapur area,Ghaziabad,and one was arrested from Dadri. The police said,“Harum,Munna,Chimman,Akbar,Bahadur,Sahid and Shokeen were arrested from Hapur and Yusuf was arrested from Dadri. They looted people on the roads during night. The October 15 triple murder was also committed them.” On October 15,three family members were found murdered near Sector-99.

Stamp to honour Apollo hospitals released
Acknowledging the contribution made by Apollo hospitals,the Union government released a postage stamp honouring the pioneering spirit of the hospital. The hospital group that started as a small neighbourhood clinic in 1983 in Chennai,now provides healthcare with over 9,000 beds across 46 hospitals in India. Speaking on the occasion,Dr Pratap Reddy,Chairman,Apollo Group,said,“to be recognised by the Government of India is an honour that makes us extremely proud”.

Doctor held for killing domestic help
A homoeopathy doctor,who retired from the Air Force,was arrested for allegedly murdering his domestic help who was “blackmailing” him after she found him with a sex worker. The doctor,N K Sharma was arrested on Tuesday. According to the police,Sharma,who is separated from his wife and running a clinic in Badarpur,South Delhi,was caught from ISBT Kashmere Gate. He allegedly murdered his help Meena by hitting her on the head with a brick and strangulating her with an electric wire at his rented accommodation in Bhagwan Nagar area,Southeast Delhi,on October 20.

NRI’s stolen goods recovered
Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have recovered valuables of a Wimbledon-based NRI from Agra. The valuable were allegedly stolen by an auto-driver in Delhi around a fortnight ago. According to the police,Ashok Bhalla,the NRI boarded an autorickshaw from Nizamuddin Bus Depot to Sukhdev Vihar and on the way he stopped to purchase some sweets when the driver fled with his articles. The police said they have recovered Bhalla’s passport,500 pounds,6,500 roubles,air ticket,folder containing legal documents,digital camera,a laptop,Rs 95,000 and two mobile phones. “Bhalla had noted only the numerals in the registration number. During investigations,police found 12 autos with the same numerals,” the police officers said. An auto dealer provided the address of the auto driver Rajendra. “A team was sent to Agra,his native place,but he was found absconding. However,the stolen materials were recovered from his house,” the police said.

Five members of biker gang held
Five members of a biker gang were arrested in the Capital for their alleged involvement in snatching,bus robbery and theft cases. According to the police,Shyam (25),Praveen Singh (30),Ajit Singh (34),Shyambir (40) and Sanjaypal (22) were caught on Monday evening from S-Block Park in Mangolpuri Industrial Area. “The gang used to snatch chains and bags and rob passengers in moving buses at knifepoint. They used stolen motorcycles for criminal activities,” the police said.

22 fresh cases of dengue
With 22 more people testing positive for dengue on Wednesday,total number of those suffering from the vector-borne disease in Delhi climbed to 438.

Fake certificate accused get bail
A city court granted bail to a retired Rajasthan cadre IAS officer accused of issuing a fake SC/ST certificate to a Delhi-based woman,who later became the principal of a school in Delhi. The court granted bail to Om Prakash Godara,ex-SDM of Jhunjhunu in Rajashtan,on a personal and surety bond of Rs 50,000 each. Earlier,the court had allowed the bail plea of Mithilesh Verma,principal of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in East Delhi,and her husband Tarsem Lal Verma in the case.

Munna Bajrangi aide in police custody
A city court on Wednesday sent Miraj Hussain,an associate of Uttar Pradesh gangster Munna Bajrangi,to a 10-day police custody. Hussain was arrested from Varanasi by the Delhi Police reportedly on the basis of disclosure made by Bajrangi during interrogation and records of intercepted phone calls allegedly made by him for extorting money from a Delhi-based businessman. Hussain was allegedly looking after Bajrangi gang’s extortion racket in Varanasi.
