Vice-President security breach: Man arrested
New Delhi:A motorcyclist who allegedly tried to breach the security of Vice-President Hamid Anasri and physically assaulted a Delhi Traffic Police sub-inspector has been arrested. Police said Mahender Singh was booked under relevant IPC sections. Police said on Wednesday,traffic at Vijay Chowk was stopped for the VIP movement. The S-I Ishtyak Ahmad in his complaint said Singh tried to breach security. The biker was signalled to stop,but he turned towards Raisina-Rajpath crossing. The security personnel and a PCR van chased and stopped him. When the S-I prosecuted him,Singh indulged in a brawl with Ahmad. He ripped off Ahmads uniform and assaulted him, a senior police officer said.
Number of calls on womens helpline up by 200%: CISF
New Delhi:Following the Delhi gangrape incident on December 16 last year,the CISF has recorded an approximate 200 per cent increase in the number of distress calls on its womens helpline (011-22185555) at Delhi Metro stations. The CISF chief,during the 44th Raising Day,said the agency has decided to observe 2013 as the year for women safety and security,and a number of measures will be taken to help women in distress.
Elderly woman murdered
Ghaziabad:A 65-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Sihani Gate area on Saturday morning. Police suspect it to be a case of robbery gone wrong as the womans gold earrings were missing.
