Four arrested for cheating

New Delhi:Four persons were arrested on Sunday for duping several wholesalers of lakhs of rupees. They would open a company,order menthol and peppermint worth lakhs of rupees from dealers and close the firm without paying. The four have been identified as Avdesh Singh (28),Punit Bhatia (24),Ghanshyam Singh (42) and Dalip (42). Punit’s brother,Rajiv Bhatia,is the kingpin of the gang and is absconding along with a few of his associates,police said. The Bhatia brothers had been running the racket for the past few years and have made lakhs of rupees by cheating menthol and peppermint wholesalers.

Sheila conferred D Litt degree

New Delhi:Delhi Chief Minster Sheila Dikshit was conferred with a Doctor of Letters (D Litt) degree from Jamia Urdu Aligarh University on Monday,for her contribution to the promotion of Urdu. Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman S H Khan received the degree on the CM’s behalf in Aligarh on Monday as Dikshit could not travel to Aligarh on August 30 due to an illness. Others who have been conferred the D Litt degree include film actor Dilip Kumar,lyricist Gulzar and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh Yadav.
