HC to decide on recording of judicial proceedings

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court,will on Tuesday decide whether audio and video recording of judicial proceedings can be allowed. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra had reserved its verdict on the plea by lawyer Deepak Khosla,as he contended that the recording of court proceedings would not only reduce the number of litigation but also save the court’s time. The High Court’s counsel,however,has opposed the idea saying this would amount to re-engineering of the entire judicial system,and it was not required.

Contractor shot at by bike-borne men

GURGAON: Two motorcycle-borne criminals shot at a contractor on Monday afternoon in Sector-37,before fleeing from the spot. The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. According to police,the victim,Chandan Singh (50),is a resident of Uttam Nagar in Delhi. “The motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at Singh when he was on his way after withdrawing money from a bank,” said Hameed Akhtar,DCP (South).

Former judge challaned for illegal beacon

GURGAON: A former judge of a district court was issued a ‘challan’ by traffic police of the city after a blue beacon was found on his car. Bharti Arora,DCP (Traffic),was on the spot inspecting the checking. The former judge,Mukesh Rao,was issued a challan of Rs 100 at IFFCO Chowk. “Although the amount is not a big one,we are not going to allow those who break the traffic norms scot free,” said Arora.

Metro to have eight coaches soon

New Delhi: In an effort to decongest the Metro,trains will be lengthened from the existing six-coach to eight-coach by the end of 2012. To begin with Line 3/ 4 (Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida City Center/ Vaishali) will be the first to get the eight-coach trains next year,since this is has the highest ridership and is the most congested line in the entire Metro network. The Delhi Metro has already placed an order of 136 coaches with Mitsubishi-Rotem- Mitsubishi electrical in March,for which the delivery will start in September 2012 and the deadline for delivery of the entire lot is December 2013.

2 more held in the Ghitorni abduction case

New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested the remaining two accused who had allegedly abducted and assaulted a 24-year-old woman near Ghitorni Metro station on July 23. The arrested persons identified as Deepak and Arun were present inside the car at the time of incident,police said. Police said both had fled to Shimla and Punjab. On July 23,a drunken gang of five men from Faridabad stopped a cab and abducted a woman.
