Blast at High Court: Cops look for eyewitnesses

Non-bailable warrant against Sanjay Dutt

A court in Mau issued non-bailable warrants against actor Sanjay Dutt on Saturday for not appearing before it despite several summons and a bailable warrant in a case of making provocative remarks at a rally during the Lok Sabha elections in 2009. Judicial Magistrate Krishna Kumar also issued summons to co-accused in the case Arshad Jamal,who was a SP candidate,and fixed the next hearing for July 8.

UPA has humiliated Karunanidhi: Mulayam

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday accused the Congress-led UPA government of humiliating DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu chief minister Karunanidhi over the 2G scam by arresting his daughter Kanimozhi and former union telecom minister A Raja. “The leaders of the DMK and other parties are being targeted only to make them fall in line and follow the dictates of the Congress,” Mulayam said in Bewar town of Mainpuri district.

Blast at High Court: Cops look for eyewitnesses

New Delhi: The Delhi Police is looking for eyewitnesses to the bomb blast outside the High Court. Home Secretary G K Pillai on Saturday said as the blast took place off the main road,they did not have any eyewitnesses. “The Delhi Police is pursuing certain leads and we can expect a breakthrough in a day or two,” said Pillai. The forensic report regarding the composition of the explosive is yet to reach police.

Two extortionists arrested

New Delhi: Two extortionists,Virender Kumar Gupta (31) and Ravinder Kumar Sejwal (24),who allegedly tried to extort Rs 5 lakh from a coaching institute owner in West Delhi have been arrested,police said on Saturday. The accused also allegedly burnt two cars of the victim,Nimish. Police said during questioning,Sejwal admitted that he and his friend,Gupta,had planned to to extort money from Nimish.

Cloth trader found murdered

New Delhi: A 35-year-old businessman was found murdered at his house in Multani Mohalla,Gandhi Nagar in East Delhi on Saturday. Police suspect the role of his tenant in the murder as he is missing since the incident. The victim,S K Sattar,was found with his hands and legs tied. He had been strangulated,police said. Sattar’s wife and children were not at home at the time of incident,police said.
