New Delhi: The cremation of K Subrahmanyam,strategic policy analyst and former convenor of the National Security Advisory Board,who died on Wednesday,will take place at noon Friday at the Lodhi Road Crematorium in New Delhi. A memorial service will be held at 5 pm on Saturday,February 12,at the Chinmaya Mission Auditorium,Lodhi Road.

Police told to rescue children in zari units

New Delhi: Hearing a PIL that several children in the age group of 8-14 are engaged in bag and zari-making units in Jamia Nagar,the Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the police to rescue these children. A Division Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) to look into the recovery of the children and file a status report on next date of hearing,February 23. The direction came on an application filed by an NGO.

Two arrested for shooting man

New Delhi: Two persons were arrested for allegedly killing a man to avenge the murder of a relative at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh,police said on Thursday. Ghanshyam Chauhan (30) and Amit Raghav (28) allegedly shot Kapil,a resident of Meerut,on January 28. Chauhan wanted to take revenge as Kapil had allegedly murdered his brother-in-law,Rakesh. Chauhan’s sister was also arrested for her husband’s murder.
