Sex racket busted,seven held
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have busted a sex racket with the arrest of seven persons,including six women. The racket was reportedly being operated from from Rohini Sector-16. The police said they sent a decoy customer to strike a deal with a 39-year-old woman and her associate Dev Kumar (35). Five girls were presented before him. They asked for Rs 2,500 for a night. We then raided the premises and arrested all of them, said Chhaya Sharma,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).
3 suffocate to death as factory catches fire
Ghaziabad: Three persons were suffocated to death when an industrial unit caught fire in Loni area of Ghaziabad on Sunday night. Two of the deceased,identified as Gurcharan (35) and Ramesh (50) from UP,were employees of the unit,whereas the third unidentified victim was an acquaintance of the two. The police said the unit,Delco Industries in sector A2,which manufactures rubber pipes used in generators,caught fire late on Sunday night. The fumes from the factory filled the cabin next to the factory in which the three were sleeping,suffocating them in their sleep. A security guard of a nearly unit noticed the fumes,after which the police were called in and the bodies retrieved. The exact cause of fire is being investigated, added J P Rathore,Fire Officer.
Proposal floated for separation of e-waste
New delhi: The MCD Works Committee has submitted a request to the MCD Commissioner to have separate collection for e-waste,such as batteries and mobile phones,which when dumped with regular household waste is a environment and health hazard. Jagdish Mamgain,chairman of the Works committee,has urged the Commissioner to issue an order for the separate collection of disposed electronic devices such as mobiles and computers so that they can be disposed of better. At present,the e-waste goes to normal landfill sites and ash incinerators,which is harmful.
