The Railway Police,on Tuesday night,arrested a man for leaving his car on a track near Sahibabad and endangering the lives of train passengers. The accused was identified as Anadi Mishra,the general manager of Parsavnath Developers. According to police,Anadi had driven to the track in his Honda City and ordered the guard to raise the barrier,which was closed because the Kalka Mail was approaching. “Obviously drunk,he kept fighting with the railway guard. When he refused,Mishra rammed his car into the barrier,causing it to fall right on the railway track. He left the car there,” an officer said. Following that,the Kalka Mail crashed into the car,sources said,adding that Mishra was arrested and sent to 14 days’ judicial custody.

Youth injured as tempo rams into his car
A 28-year-old man suffered injuries after a speeding tempo hit his Ford Endeavour in Lajpat Nagar area early on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 5.30 am,while Manoj Kumar,a resident of Ghaziabad,was returning home after dropping a relative at the airport. Sources said he was approaching DAV School on Ring Road,Lajpat Nagar,when the tempo hit his car from behind. While the car turned turtle,the tempo smashed against the divider. Manoj was taken to hospital and discharged after first aid,police said,adding that the tempo driver is absconding.

Firm manager robbed of Rs 7 lakh after bank visit

The manager of an iron firm was robbed of Rs 7 lakh at Nehru Nagar on Wednesday afternoon. The incident had occurred soon after the victim,Vinay Chauhan,withdrew the money — to be delivered to his employer Sandeep Gupta — from an Axis Bank branch in the locality. Police said Chauhan had reached Gupta’s residence when two motorcycle-borne men came along and snatched the bag from him. A case has been registered.

Court upholds dismissal of bus conductor
The High Court has upheld a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) decision to dismiss a bus conductor,Mahinder Pal,from service for misappropriating Rs 15 in 1998. Stating that it was not the amount but the dishonest conduct of the public servant that mattered,Chief Justice Deepak Mishra said,“Playing foul with public finance not only shocks national ethicality but also destroys the nation’s economic growth.” Pal was found guilty of not issuing tickets to three commuters,despite collecting Rs 15 from them.

HC rejects blast accused’s bail plea
The High Court,on Wednesday,dismissed the interim bail plea of Tariq Ahmed Dar,prime accused in the 2005 Delhi serial blasts,on the grounds that the offence was grave. Dar,the alleged mastermind behind the bomb explosions at Sarojini Nagar,Paharganj and Kalkaji on October 29,2005,was arrested on November 10 that year. Over 60 persons were killed and 225 injured in the incident.

Burglar falls from stairs while fleeing,dies
A 25-year-old man died after he fell from a staircase in East Delhi while trying to escape after an alleged burglary,the police said. The deceased has been identified as Sunny. Sunny was chased by public after he was caught allegedly stealing valuables from a house.

Notification for MCG ward delimitation
The Haryana Government has issued a notification for the proposal of delimitation of wards for the Gurgaon Municipal Corporation (MCG),and suggestions received on the proposal till September 20 would be taken into consideration. Suggestions may be sent to the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary of the Urban Local Bodies Department,Chandigarh,Municipal Commissioner,Gurgaon,and Deputy Commissioner,Gurgaon.
