Saket court complex to open tomorrow
New Delhi: The Capitals sixth district court complex will be inaugurated in Pushp Vihar,in Saket,by the Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia on Saturday. Delhi High Court Chief Justice Dipak Misra will preside over the function,while Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will be the guest of honour. All courts pertaining to South and Southeast districts which are presently at the Patiala House complex will function in this complex.
Ring Road bypass opened to public
New Delhi:The much-awaited Ring Road Bypass flyover has been thrown open for traffic to ease pressure on the Ring Road. The PWD opened on carriageway from the Hanuman Setu side on Thursday. The PWD started construction of this project in December 2008. The total length of the bypass is 5.55 km.
New Delhi: The Shalimar Bagh police arrested a 22-year-old man and apprehended a juvenile for their alleged involvement in a murder-cum-robbery case last month. The accused Arjun Pandit (22) and the juvenile,along with another accomplice,had killed 54-year-old Anita Gupta and robbed her residence in July. Pandit informed the police that he was in debt,leading him to commit the crime.
Sarojini Nagar serial blasts accused gets bail
New Delhi:Additional Sessions Judge Raj Kumar Chauhan granted bail to suspected Lashkar militant Ghulam Ahmed Khan,accused of providing money through hawala channels to Tariq Ahmed Dhar,the alleged mastermind of the October 2005 serial blasts in Paharganj,Sarojini Nagar and Kalkaji. Khans counsel told the court that the accused had already served the prescribed term of five years since his arrest in November 2005. The serial blasts on October 29,2005,had killed 67 people and left more than 225 injured.
Drive for paperless toll plazas begins
Gurgaon:NGO Haryali plans to launch an awareness campaign on Friday to encourage the concept of paperless toll plazas. Approximately 10,000 trees are felled annually for paper used at toll plazas across India,claims the body,which has written to the Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath.
