Another accused held in IIPM student’s murder

Anand Tiwari,a second-year IIPM student,was found with his face smashed with rocks on May 26,near Rockland Hospital. Tiwari was reportedly in love with Chaddha’s ex-girlfriend. Chaddha did not take their closeness well and murdered Tiwari with the help of his friends,Arun and Arjun.

“On the fateful day,Chaddha told Arun that he was in love with a girl who was close to Tiwari. She and Tiwari were set to go to Switzerland on May 27 on an educational trip. Chaddha had threatened Tiwari about the trip but he did not back out. Chaddha then asked Arun to help him kill Tiwari. They also asked their friend Arjun to join them,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South),H G S Dhaliwal said.

As per their plan,Arjun invited Tiwari for a drink to Saket and took him to the forested area in the Qutab Institutional Area on his motorcycle on the pretext of taking a walk,while Rahul and Arun followed them in a car. In the forested area,Arjun hit Tiwari on his head with an iron rod and when Tiwari fell down,Rahul and Arun also hit him with stones and iron rods.

After taking his wallet,mobile phone and bag,they threw his body in the nullah and fled the spot. The police said Arun also confessed to taking Tiwari’s sunglasses and pen after committing the crime.

The police said he moved places after the crime and even applied for an anticipatory bail claiming he did not know Chaddha. The police strongly opposed the bail and produced photographs showing them together,as a result of which his bail plea was rejected. Arjun,however,is still on the run.
