In an effort to popularise the Airport Metro Express Line among school students,operator Reliance Infrastructure on Sunday launched its educational-cum-excursion trip programme for students of the Capital. The operator has tied up with leading schools in the city who will participate in the programme.
Students of Sanskriti School,Chanakyapuri,are the first to participate in the excursion trip.
Over 1,000 students from classes VI to X of the school will be hopping on for a ride this week.
The first trip was organised on April 29,with 232 students and 10 teachers from Class VIII,riding the high-speed link. On their way from Dwarka Sector 21 to the New Delhi station,they alighted at the IGI Metro station for a short tour,then resumed their journey.
At New Delhi station,they were familiarised with various passenger service facilities and were then taken to the Shivaji Stadium station,where a small skit was organised to tell about the company about… the benefits of a high-speed,safe and comfortable urban transport system, said an official statement from Reliance Infrastructure. Students also saw the baggage check-in facilities installed at New Delhi,Shivaji Stadium and IGI Airport stations.
The operator is now in talks with other schools such as DPS-Dwarka,Bal Bharti and Mount Carmel for participating in the educational excursion programme.
Officials said the school authorities have demonstrated interest. The activity will continue till mid-May before the schools break for summer vacation.
